Highlights of the PMAY scheme
Now that you know how to apply for PMAY scheme, let's look at its highlights.
The PMAY scheme is dedicated towards development in the urban areas. Under the scheme, the government will replace the slums in cities by constructing over 2 crore ‘pukka houses'. Furthermore, applicants can benefit from subsidized interest rates on home loans with this scheme. The scheme is especially designed for members of economically weaker sections (EWS), low income groups (LIGs), and middle income groups (MIGs) and minorities including members of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward classes and members of transgender communities. Women applications, widows and senior citizens can also benefit from this scheme.

Benefits of PMAY
Food, clothing and shelter are often cited as the three basic necessities of life. But with the ever-rising property rates, most people find it extremely difficult to afford the third necessity – shelter. This is why, when the Narendra Modi led government announced the PMAY scheme that provides affordable, homes for all sections of the society, it became the talk of the town.
